Boston bound

So. I am getting my ESOL teaching licensure through CELTA/Teaching House. It’ll be a month-long intensive class in fabulous Boston, Massachusetts! Where I have never been, actually, making this all the more exciting. I literally got the last open spot in Boston (I would've had to go to New York otherwise, which I cannot afford). I really can’t believe my luck. Not only that, I found an amazing sublease in a really cool place with awesome roommates, furniture, and easy access to public transportation.

And apparently I can take a bus to NYC for super cheap, which is exciting because I get to hang out with my fabulous friend Hannah, who is coming all the way from Australia for a whirlwind tour of the US & the UK.

The plan after Boston? Find a job teaching English in my other native land, Deutschland, and figure out myself and my life and what the hell I want to be doing with my time.

I'm also determined to learn how to play tennis, because I am weirdly hooked on watching it - I've gone so far as to look up the rules, read the wikipedia page, and check out several other websites. Plus, I need an active sporty type hobby, and I've never really cared about any others. I really enjoyed yoga for the short time I got into it, and I am definitely going to pick that up again as well.

So. Boston. I am leaving in about six hours, which is crazycakes. I am taking the AMTRAK - a first for me, so I will be sure to report details! I am so ready for my ~24hr train trip! I have:

-2 sandwiches (one roast beef, one turkey, both made differently to keep things interesting)
-baby carrots
-sliced up cucumber
-cantaloupe
-4 energy bars
-a 6 pack of water

No overpriced dining car food for me! I was sad to discover today that there isn't an outlet at my measly economy class seat, so I won't be able to use my computer much. WHICH IS FINE, because I have a TON of podcasts to catch up on (I've been saving them especially) + several podfics. My ipod is going to save me from eternal boredom. Plus of course I'll be asleep a lot - I have a nice big blanket and one of those pillows that you put around your neck.

Anyway. That is the latest on my life. Hope you'll keep coming back to read more!

  1. When you learn how to play tennis teach me too then we can both be active and cool at the same time. Sorry I didnt get to see you before you left - yesterday was crazy. I do like this blog thingie though - I might set myself up one too (you know how much I love to write everything down and bitch and moan when things arn't going well...I can do the opposite and bore people with how things are actually going right for a change). Anyway...talk to you later and study hard!
